Even though, there are many <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/all\/best-alternatives-to-zoom-for-video-conferencing\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Video conferencing\"><strong>alternatives to Zoom<\/strong><\/a>, many organizations glued to Zoom to stay connected with their employees and customers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During recent days, when we are not outside, probably we are inside the Zoom. Most of our waking hours are spent inside a zoom meeting be it for work, learning or fun. As we have quickly adapted to virtual meetings, many of us still trying to figure out methods to escape from the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/all\/reducing-zoom-fatigue\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"zoom fatigue\"><strong>zoom fatigue<\/strong><\/a>. Especially video meeting fatigue, can impact productivity, job satisfaction and work-life balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As employees continue to work remotely and leaders must find some ways to limit the strain from a high volume of video conference meetings. Here are some of the recommendations from Zoom CEO for remote workers who are on video meetings all day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cAs someone who has spent many days and nights on Zoom over the last 12 months talking to people all around the world, I can relate. It is incredibly hard to abruptly pivot from a social, in-person work environment to a world where we only see images of faces on a screen. My personal record is 19 Zoom meetings in a day. It&#8217;s a record that some may be able to beat, but I&#8217;ll admit it was a struggle to make it through.: said Eric S. Yuan is the founder and CEO of Zoom.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some of Yuan\u2019s practices to limit strain from a high volume of\nvideo conference meetings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Take scheduled breaks away from the computer.<\/li><li>Book meetings for 25 minutes or 55 minutes (or even try going down to 20 or 45      minutes), or end meetings early to give everyone a buffer to recover      mentally between meetings.<\/li><li>Use chat or email in lieu of a meeting.<\/li><li>Try turning off self-view so you can see your colleagues&#8217; faces, and so they can see yours, without having to see yourself.<\/li><li>Implement a &#8220;no internal meetings day&#8221; to give yourself and your employees a break. We&#8217;ve been doing this since late last year at Zoom and our employees love it.<\/li><li>Encourage employees to set boundaries around their personal time. While exceptions must be made for a global workforce, leaders should discourage night and weekend meetings.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(1) Take scheduled breaks away from the computer\ufeff<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"697\" height=\"297\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc1.png\" alt=\"Take scheduled breaks away from the computer\ufeff\" title=\"Take scheduled breaks away from the computer\ufeff\" class=\"wp-image-9211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc1.png 697w, https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc1-300x128.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Although there is no fixed time between breaks\nor length of breaks, we recommend to follow 20-20-20 rule. The rule is that, for\nevery 20 minutes spent on a screen, you should try to look away at something\nthat is 20 feet away from you for a total of 20 seconds. Sometimes, due to the\nnature of your work, taking breaks may not be possible, and in this case, consider\nto schedule your breaks for at least 5 minutes in every hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(2) Schedule shorter meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meetings are inevitable. To make the meetings\nmore productive, schedule short meetings for 25 minutes or 55 minutes or even\ngoing down to 20 or 45 minutes will work better in some cases. You can also end\nmeetings early to give everyone a buffer to recover mentally between meetings. Have\na clear agenda and circulate it ahead of time to avoid extending the 10 mins meetings\nto an hour meeting and always try to stick to the agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(3) Use chat or email rather than meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"697\" height=\"297\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc2.png\" alt=\"Use chat or email rather than meeting\" title=\"Use chat or email rather than meeting\" class=\"wp-image-9213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc2.png 697w, https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc2-300x128.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Before sending a meeting invite, pause for a\nsecond and give a thought whether this issue can be addressed through the chat\n\/ email. sometimes meetings may not be the right solution for a problem. For disseminating\ninformation to the team or if you want a quick update from the team, consider\nfor an email or use chat to reach the team. Use chat tools like slack or\nproject management tools that best suits for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(4) Turn off self-view<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"697\" height=\"297\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc3.png\" alt=\"Turn off self-view\" title=\"Turn off self-view\" class=\"wp-image-9220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc3.png 697w, https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceoc3-300x128.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When we used to organize meetings at office, we never bother about how we look and we concentrate only on the agenda. Besides of many ways to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/all\/how-to-look-great-in-video-calls\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"video calls\"><strong>look great on video calls<\/strong><\/a>, we chose to turn off our videos in most of our meetings. This might due to the over consciousness of how we look in the video. To solve this, zoom provides an option to turn off self-view in which we can see our colleagues&#8217; faces, and so they can see us, without having to see ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(5) Implement &#8220;No internal meeting\nday&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are in a situation where our day never ends\nwithout a meeting. But implementing a &#8220;No internal meeting day&#8221; will\ngive us and our employees a break. It helps all team members to focus on\nheads-down work, without having to fit it in between meetings. Make a day for\n\u201cNo internal meetings\u201d and your employees will feel rewarding to be able to block out a big chunk of time to\nfocus on the tasks at hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(6) Set boundaries between personal time and\nwork<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"697\" height=\"297\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceo4.png\" alt=\"Set boundaries between personal time and work\" title=\"Set boundaries between personal time and work\" class=\"wp-image-9221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceo4.png 697w, https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/zceo4-300x128.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t let your employees to feel overwhelmed\nand out of control.&nbsp; Encourage them to\nset healthy boundaries around their personal time. While exceptions must be\nmade for a global workforce, leaders should discourage night and weekend\nmeetings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When it comes to remote work, we don\u2019t have any\n&#8220;one size fits all&#8221;. We should modify some of our routines to fit in\nto the new normal. Save your time for golden meetings and feel excited to be a\npart of a meeting.
