Meet one of the greatest tightrope walkers\never to have walked on our planet \u2013 Charles Blondin. He was a Frenchman, who\nperformed extensively in the US. He was already known as \u201cThe Boy Wonder\u201d in\nEurope, as far as tight rope walking skills were concerned, before he stepped\non the shores of US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He did the daredevil act of tightrope walking over the Niagara gorge on June 30, 1959 for the very first time. Distance was 1100 feet and the rope were held tight at 160 feet above the water. His to and fro journey across the gorge took only 23 minutes. He always believed that a rope walker was \u201clike a poet, born and not made.\u201d He made it across the Niagara gorge numerous times with theatrical variations like blindfolded, in a sack, trundling a wheelbarrow, on stilts, carrying his manager, sitting down midway to cook an omelette and so on. It was estimated that he must have crossed Niagara Falls 300 times and covered more than 10,000 miles on a rope in his <a href=\"https:\/\/helloleads.io\/\"><strong>career<\/strong><\/a>. His name became synonymous with tightrope walking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"697\" height=\"287\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Tightrope-walking.jpg\" alt=\"The greatest tightrope walker ever!\" title=\"The greatest tightrope walker ever!\" class=\"wp-image-9245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Tightrope-walking.jpg 697w, https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Tightrope-walking-300x124.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In tightrope walking, the acrobat uses a\nbalancing pole to transfer the weight evenly and strike a fine balance at every\nstep on the way. One must be, both relaxed and alert at the same time. The\nskills of tightrope walking, which Blondin exhibited those days, is even\nrelevant in the modern world.&nbsp; Each one\nof us is in fact a \u201ctightrope\u201d walker in the multiple roles, which we play\ndaily. Luckily, our lives are not fraught with such dangers, as Blondin faced.\nIn case of Blondin, one false step and he would not have been there to analyse\nhis mistake. We need to develop that sense of equanimity in the mind to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Engage\ncontrasting stakeholders in our work and life, effectively<\/li><li>Strike\na fine balance between work and life<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>If one has to become a \u201cBlondin\u201d in the modern\nworld, we need to start tweaking the work and life, to achieve that fine\nbalance, always.
