These emotive\ncharacters are the primitive language that is represented to be the first\nlanguage born from the digital world and adds emotional tone to flat text of\ncommunication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The very first traces of emoji were emoticon, facial expressions made with punctuation marks. It appeared in Puck magazine, back in 1881. The magazine published four faces conveying &#8211; joy, melancholy, indifference and astonishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/first-traces-of-emoji-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1677\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/first-traces-of-emoji-1.png 680w, https:\/\/www.helloleads.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/first-traces-of-emoji-1-300x99.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nemoticon was first used as typographical art to communicate emotions online in\n1982.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, when\nit became difficult for people to differentiate between happy vs. sad, faculty\nmember Scott Fahlman, from Carnegie Mellon University digital message board came\nup with a solution to use: \ud83d\ude42 for humorous post and \ud83d\ude41 for serious ones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his announcement, he specified the readers to \u201cread it sideways\u201d. In 90s, emoticon had nose and were written with punctuation marks and also hours were spent in creating complex emoticons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1999,\nthe very first and simple emoji was designed by a dazzling spirit of Shifetaka\nKurita, a Japanese engineer from DOCOMO who got inspiration from Manga \u2013\nChinese Cartoon character. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This pictorial character became popular in the rest of the world in the mid-2000s. The designs created by Kurita were attractive and conveyed the information in a simple and succinct way.
