His total free fall duration was 4 minutes and 27\nseconds from the top of the stratosphere. He set the altitude record of 41.4\nkms. above the Earth\u2019s surface for his jump, after being powered up by a helium\nballoon. This successful record set on 24th October, 2014 eclipsed the previous\nrecord held by Felix Baumgartner, who reached a launch point of 34.7 kms. for\nhis free fall jump in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Balloons in their various forms were invented for use in military communications, scientific experimentation and transportation. The balloons, which we use for decoration purposes in parties are filled with air. The air pressure inside the balloon is higher than the surrounding air, which makes it denser. Since they are comparatively heavier, they tend to fall down on the ground. There is a second variety known as gas balloons. Such balloons rise in the air, since they are filled with a gas lighter than air (like Hydrogen and Helium).
